Military-Affiliated Children

Located less than 40 miles from Ft. Campbell Army Base, Oak Plains Academy is a TRICARE® Certified psychiatric residential treatment center for children and adolescents ages 7–17, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues at our 98-bed residential treatment facility. Patients are separated onto units by age, intellectual functioning level and gender.

Oak Plains Academy understands the common stressors military-affiliated children endure and are equipped and trained to address those needs.

TRICARE® Certified Neurobehavioral Inpatient Treatment

The Neurobehavioral Program serves youth ages 7 to 17 years old with an IQ of 65 or greater who experience neurodevelopmental disorders including fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, autism spectrum disorders and intellectual developmental disabilities. The goal of treatment is to reduce inappropriate behaviors by establishing a fit between the environmental expectations and cognitive abilities, teaching adaptive coping skills and increasing social skills that allow the individual to maintain safety in the community.

Residents are provided the following individual treatment plans based upon a neurobehavioral assessment including:

  • Functional behavioral analysis
  • Psychosocial assessment
  • Psychiatric assessment

  • 24-hour medical monitoring by a registered nurse
  • Individual, family, and group counseling
  • 24/7 milieu management to include social skills building
  • Accredited classroom, including IEP services
